“The parade was a great success this year,” said Cindy Bullett, event coordinator. “We had a lot of participation and a huge crowd. It was a lot of fun.” In the float category, first place was awarded to Kansas State Aviation, second place went to the Sequoyah High School Residential Department and third place was awarded to the Cherokee Nation Powwow Head Staff. In the business/civic/church category, Cherokee Nation Enterprises won first place, second place was awarded to Cherokee Nation Industries and third place went to Steeley Baptist Church. First place in the Ga-Du-Gi division was awarded to Cherokee Nation Healthy Nations. Cherokee Nation Child Support Enforcement took home the second place award and third place went to Three Rivers Health Clinic. In the marching unit category, first place went to the Bacone College Spirit Squad. Second place was awarded to the Northeastern State University Riverhawks and Stilwell High School placed third. In the vehicle category, the Cherokee Nation Students Working against Tobacco group won first place. Second place went to Little Mr. Cherokee Isaac Hawzipta and third place went to Little Miss Cherokee Lily Smith. Cherokee Nation Enterprises won Best All Around. “I want to congratulate all of our winners and encourage everyone to come back for next year’s parade,” said Bullett. |
