TULSA, Oklahoma – Cherokee Hills Golf Club at Cherokee Casino Resort
is hosting a free summer golf program for Cherokee juniors this July.
The Native Tee Program provides local Cherokee juniors the opportunity
to learn the basic principles and techniques of the game from qualified
golf instructors at one of Oklahoma’s most popular and challenging
public golf courses.
Cherokee Hills will provide three, three-hour golf camps free of charge to Cherokee juniors on July 7, 8 and 9 from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. each day. Jeff Jarrett, golf operations general manager, will lead the camps and be assisted by professionals Matt Harris and Jason Drake, of Cherokee Hills. The program has proved successful the past three years at Cherokee Trails Golf Course in Tahlequah, and organizers have extended the program this year to Cherokee Hills Golf Club. “The Native Tee Program is great for our Cherokee youth,” said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Enterprises, which operates the golf courses, Cherokee Casinos and multiple other retail businesses. “Our instructors have done an exceptional job with this program in Tahlequah, teaching young golfers the basics of the game while promoting healthy activities during the summer months. We are excited to extend the offer to our Tulsa location.” Cherokee juniors ages 6-17 are encouraged to enroll beginning June 1, for space will be limited. All sessions will focus on core golf principles, basic rules and proper golf etiquette. To participate, youths must provide proof of Cherokee citizenship at the time of registration for each day camp. Golf clubs can be provided to participants not owning a set but must be reserved at the time of registration. To reserve time for the Native Tee Program at Cherokee Hills Golf Club beginning June 1, call the pro shop at (918) 384-7600. For more information about Cherokee Hills Golf Club, visit online. |
